WELCOME TO MY CORNER OF TENNESSEE.

The Lord will be a refuge..in times of trouble. Ps. 9:9

Hi. my name is Alma, better known to my family as "Nan". "This is my special place". The place I go when I seek peace, soltitude, tranquility or just some quiet time with our maker. The place I go when I need to think, reminisce, and think of the many things I am so very thankful for : my husband, my children, my grandchildren, My Mother. I am thankful for my brothers, Gene and Tex and sisters-in-law, Ann & B.J. and my step-mother Cleeta. My husband's family, (they seem more like my brothers and sisters than my in-laws, and I love each of them dearly.) and my friends. You are welcome to join me, Old friends, and New ones alike. WELCOME !!

My favorite thought for the day : Live each day as if it were your last, "IT VERY WELL COULD BE" We recently lost a dear friend due to a tornado. Angie was only 35 years old. Had just moved into a new home with her husband, they were going to the basement to safety when the basement walls caved in on her. I am saddened by the fact that Angie did not have a chance to say "goodbye" to her husband, her family or her friends. My heart goes out to her family. As a mother myself, I can only imagine the pain that Ruby, her mother must be going through right now. She and her daughter had a very close relationship, just as my daughter and I do, and I can't imagine life without my daughter Cindi, or my three sons, Gene, Kelly & Greg. Thank God I have never had to go through such pain, and I pray daily for those that have. Enjoy each moment that God gives us. Do not take our families for granted. Each of us get so caught up in our daily lives, that we simply forget to stop and truly appreciate what we have. Our children grow up so fast, we stop one day and wonder where the years have gone. Our grandchildren are little one day and adults the next. Have we taken the time to sit and "really talk" to our children and grandchildren, and "listen" to what is on their minds and what they have to say ? I know I have been guilty of letting precious time slip by and before you know it, they are grown. My husband and I are retired now and we love spending all of our days with each other. We laugh a lot (we didn't always have time to do that when we were raising our family ) we were too busy working and trying to provide the basic needs. But we truly enjoy "our time" together now. We can relax a little more and sit back and watch, and marvel in what a good job our children are doing in raising our grandchildren.
